Call for Papers: AI through History, History through AI
16.02.2026

The eighth Digital Humanities and Digital History conference will take place 15–16 June 2026 at the University of Luxembourg, hosted by the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) together with the German Historical Institute Washington, the Chair for Digital History at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Herder Institute.
The conference explores how generative AI reshapes historical research — as analytical method, everyday workflow component, and object of historical inquiry — while raising questions of transparency, responsibility, and epistemology. We invite contributions addressing: 1) AI methods for analyzing historical sources 2) AI in everyday research practices and documentation 3) Historical research on the history of AI.
Submit workshop (90 min) or paper (20 min) proposals (max. 500 words + short CV) by 1 March 2026 to brigitte.dolenc@uni.lu – a hybrid participation will be possible.
