Profil

The main focus of my research has been the history of political economy. That work has had two main tracks. One is the study of the economics discipline in the twentieth century paying attention to economists' modes of public advocacy and their engagement with social movements, of the poor and of the rich. The other, related interest focuses on media representations of economic knowledge and expertise, and I have looked closely at genres of business journalism and the role of public intellectuals in the regulation of public knowledge. My latest research examines the role of finance and in particular of financial technologies, in framing imaginaries of contemporary and future capitalism.
