General Info
The Joint MA in European History is a two year Master’s programme divided into four phases (two winter and two summer terms). The programme starts in the winter term and has a modular structure. It is made up of 120 Credit points (ECT S) – 30 ECTS each term.
In order to receive a Double or Joint Degree , all students must study at least at two of the participating universities in different countries. Studies from the partner universities will of course be recognised. In order to obtain a joint degree (Berlin, Dublin until 2025/2026) or a double degree (Paris, Rome, Oslo) students must complete at least 30 ECTS at a full member partner university and the Master’s thesis must be supervised by faculty members of the home and of the partner university. For a second period of mobility students can also choose an associated member university.
Joint Degree
The student receives a single degree certificate jointly issued by the awarding institutions. To obtain a Joint Degree, the student must complete at least 30 ECTS credits at a full member partner university and the master’s thesis must be supervised by faculty members of the home university and of the partner university (full member of the consortium). A Joint Degree may be awarded by Humboldt University Berlin and University College Dublin until the academic year 2025/2026. An exchange with Dulin will be possible after 2025/26 but only as an associate Partner
Double Degree
The student receives a separate degree certificate from each of the participating full member institutions they attended. The student must complete at least 30 ECTS credits at a full member partner university and their master’s thesis must be graded by two supervisors from two different partner universities. The student must defend their thesis at the partner university as well as at their home university (Defence via video conference is possible). If one of the partner universities attended is one of the following, the award will be a Double Degree: Université de Paris, Oslo University, University of Rome Tre, or University of Rome Tor Vergata
