Paolo Bozzi joined the Chair of Social and Economic History at Humboldt in 2019 as a pre-doc research assistant (wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter), while pursuing his PhD. Between 2014 and 2019, he studied in Pisa, where he received his M.A. in History from the University of Pisa in 2019 defending a thesis on the Economic History of 20th-century Italy. At the same time, he was an undergraduate student (allievo ordinario) at the Faculty of Humanities (Classe di Lettere e Filosofia) of the Scuola Normale Superiore, from which he was awarded a five-year scholarship. In 2018, he spent the spring semester at the University of Sheffield as Erasmus exchange student.

Research Interests
His research interests concentrate on the Economic History of Modern Italy in a European perspective, with a particular focus on the History of Public Finance and Taxation. Together with this, he is broadly interested in the Political and Cultural History of Modern Italy, especially in the republican period (1945-1992).

Research Project
Currently, he is working on the implementation of progressive taxation in Italy between the Second World War and the 1970s. The research aims both at collecting quantitative data about the functioning of the Italian tax system, and at analysing the development of Italian tax policy with a particular focus on income and wealth redistribution.
