Studying at the IfG, Course Selection, ECTS

The IfG is one of the largest historical research institutions in the country. Here you will find an overview of all the historical periods and thematic areas that are researched and taught at the IfG.

As an Erasmus student at the IfG, you can attend all of the institute’s courses. You can find the courses and a current course catalog on AGNES.

In addition to the ECTS credits you earn through active participation in courses, you have the option to take additional exams to earn further ECTS credits and/or a grade. Please include these additional ECTS credits in your Learning Agreement.

Essay: 2 ECTS
Term paper (10 pages): 2 ECTS
Term paper (15 pages): 4 ECTS
Term paper (20 pages): 5 ECTS
Term paper (25 pages): 7 ECTS

 

Which courses can I choose, and where can I find them in the course catalog?

In principle, you are free to choose any course offered by the IfG. You can find the course catalog on AGNES. Select the semester in the top-left corner (e.g., Summer Semester 2025). The institute’s courses are listed under “Faculty of Philosophy” → “Institute of History.” On AGNES, you can also see the format of each course.
