CIERA Junior-Colloquium 2025
The CIERA Junior Colloquium 2025, titled "Des imprimés en mouvement: Réception et circulation du livre entre les espaces francophones et germanophones à l’époque moderne", will take place on October 16–17, 2025, at the Department of History (Friedrichstraße 191, Room 5028).
Doctoral students from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin working on topics related to the 16th and 17th centuries are cordially invited to attend as guests.

Conference: Soziale Personen. Kommunikation mit Nicht-Menschen in der Vormoderne
On September 22–23, 2025, a conference on the topic of "Soziale Personen. Kommunikation mit Nicht-Menschen in der Vormoderne" was held in Berlin, organised by Prof. Dr. Matthias Pohlig and Prof. Dr. Barbara Schlieben.
The event brought together participants from an initiative to establish a DFG Research Training Group with experts from various disciplines whose research focuses on non-human actors—such as animals, plants, deities, demons, and objects.
In a workshop-style setting, transdisciplinary combinations of presentations and commentaries fostered a lively and productive exchange. The results will be incorporated into the application.

Research Day
Those who are currently writing a master's thesis related to the Early Modern period or are considering to do so are welcome to present it at the department's Research Day. On this occasion, once a semester, staff and students working on the Early Modern period come together to discuss research projects in progress. In a relaxed atmosphere, questions, theses, and further ideas can be introduced and explored.
